Video: RJmrLA “Apartment”

RJMrLA’s upbringing in South Central, his largely underrated mixtapes (O.M.M.I.O 1, 2 & 3, Mr. LA, The Ghetto with Mustard), previous label ties with YG and Mustard’s 400 Summers are just context for his next (and most important) chapter. He’s got a freshly inked deal with EMPIRE and he’s just announced his debut studio album On God. To celebrate his first solo release in 2 years, RJ shares the video for “Apartment.” If it’s any sign, RJ is an underdog poised for triumph and the best we can do is stay out of his way.

RJ knows he can’t introduce you to his future without showing you his past. On “Apartment,” he raps, “I grew up in apartment where my granny was the landlord, and the windows had bars like a metaphor.” In the video he saunters through a laundromat and throws a parking lot party with his boys, something the LA native probably did a lot of growing up.
