Check out the exclusive Interview below:

Mikala: Hey, how are you?

TrapBoyFreddy: I’m doing good. Chilling, chilling

Mikala: I was reading your Dallas Observer Article and saw that you started rapping in the Strip Club? What impact would you say the Strip Club had on your career?

TrapBoyFreddy: I mean the Strip Club had a lot to do with it. It really wasn’t just the Strip Club it was normal clubs. It was really the flamboyant lifestyle. That really helped me a lot!

Mikala: As I was listening to your music, I noticed that you have that Authentic Trap sound. You know as Hip Hop is constantly evolving how do you manage to stay true to that sound?

TrapBoyFreddy: I stick to what’s working. You know what I’m saying. That lifestyle, that authenticity, it’s really me.

Mikala: Yeah so it’s kind of hard to switch it up if that’s really you!

TrapBoyFreddy: Yeah but I can switch up! For right now we in BIG TRAP MODE! (Laughs)

Mikala: You recently dropped a major project with Yella Beezy which is super dope because everybody in Dallas knows that ya’ll two are roll dogs. You guys titled it “I’m My Brother’s Keeper”. What is your definition of being your “Brother’s Keeper”?

TrapBoyFreddy: Say for instance, your brother passed you would help take care of his kids, help pay for his funeral. Send him money while he’s in Jail, send him letters, help him while he’s out too. Show him how to get some legal money. Help him out from time to time. Don’t be like his girlfriend. Pretty much just be there for him when he needs you.

Mikala: How would you say the chemistry was with you and Yella Beezy in the Studio with this project?

TrapBoyFreddy: Shit . . . Big vibes, big kickin it, laughs, smiles. A whole bunch of positive vibes. That’s just us!

Mikala: Besides it being a collab how would you say this one is different from the others?

TrapBoyFreddy: I’ve done collab tapes with a few people but this one was with my guy. Most of my collab tapes I’m the dominator on them but this one my man’s got his shine, going crazy. It was more like . . . let me get my feet wet type, know what I mean. We like the Splash Brothers. We go together like Steph and Clay! I loved that shit though! It was different, some good playa vibes.

Mikala: I’ve heard yall’s others projects but “I’m My Brother’s Keeper” definitely has a different flair to it but in a very good way though!

TrapBoyFreddy: Yeah, that was us giving the world Texas! This was some real Texas vibes, we just let them in our world one time.

Mikala: I love it! I love that you guys are representing Dallas. I feel like people are sleeping on us although I’m from Arlington, you know, we’re basically all together!

TrapBoyFreddy: Yup, most definitely! We’re all one fasho.

Mikala: You guys recently dropped a visual for “Ride” how did that concept come about?

TrapBoyFreddy: I would say the videographer or the label. We just participated, it made sense so we pitched you know what I mean, but It was most definitely one of them that came up with it. that wasn’t our idea (laughs).

Mikala: (Laughs) You guys played the role real well so I couldn’t tell.

TrapBoyFreddy: (Laughs) Yeah, you gotta give 110% everytime. If you not gone do your best at it, don’t do it at all.

Mikala: Now you know over the Years we’ve been heavily dealing with Police brutality also the senseless killings of black men. As a black man how do you feel about all of this!?

TrapBoyFreddy: I hate it. It disgusts me to the fullest. I had  a whole video of me getting beat up by the Police and It don’t just be the White Police, it’s the Black Police as well! Police go overboard. They shouldn’t be sticking their gotdamn knee in your head on concrete anyways . You ain’t no animal. It’s a better way to go around that.

Mikala: In the industry you know, it can be Caucasian dominated, do you think it’s time to start having these discussions especially within the entertainment industry?

TrapBoyFreddy: I haven’t really witnessed too much racism in the industry. I witnessed racism in the streets. I do know it can be some big dogs somewhere  but I haven’t really got to see it too much in the media. But the Police way . . . that shit needs to be talked about amongst the whole Community. I just saw a clip with a white man coming towards the Police with a knife and they just tased him! They’re killing unarmed black people, it’s better ways to go about that and they know it too! Just like any other person the Police need to catch a murder case too.

Mikala: It makes me frustrated because we shouldn’t have to be living in fear. You shouldn’t have to be nervous when a Police gets behind you!

TrapBoyFreddy: Right! Especially when you haven’t done anything wrong. It don’t make no sense, It’s gone too far though.

Mikala: So right now we have protests going on and others speaking out through the media, as a  Black Community what do you think is the most beneficial when it comes to these things?

TrapBoyFreddy: Me personally, I would turn they water off! When I say turn they water off I mean I wouldn’t conversate with them, they wouldn’t be nowhere I would be. I wouldn’t spend no money to where I know it’s helping them. It’s a really big business minded way to go too, If you cut their water off they would have to take that shit somewhere else!

Mikala: Yeah! I can agree with the business aspect as well!

Mikala: I know outside of Music you’re also an entrepreneur. What advice would you give to someone who’s pursuing a music career but also wants to get into entrepreneurship?

TrapBoyFreddy: Make investments that you believe in. I understand you could help somebody else with their dream but for instance if you want to cut hair invest into a barbershop but if you don’t want to cut hair don’t invest into it. Follow your heart, follow your mind, make good decisions with your money.
