Mikala:  What part of Louisiana are you from?

Liband: I’m from Shreveport, Louisiana

Mikala: How was it for you growing up there?

Liband: It was just surviving. Surviving in any situation you get in. It could be in anything. Surviving your environment, not being weak.

Mikala: What would you say is the craziest thing that’s happened to you growing up out there?

Liband: Mannnn… (laughs) I can tell you this, my life was way more on a coaster out there than it has been since I was deported. My first time going to jail out there. That’s where I jumped off the porch at. Getting kicked out of school. Being on the corner, the block…posted up. It’s been a learning experience in my hometown.

Mikala: I heard you’ve been rapping since you were 5? What were you rapping about at 5 years old?

Liband: Shit, what was in my face! That’s the prime example of living what I rap and rapping about what’s real, ON GOD! Whatever I was rapping about, that was what it was. I do remember my uncle tried to record and put me on his Facebook. He told me rap about what’s in front of me. It wasn’t even the lyrics but it was about the effort. That ambition!

Mikala: When did you really start taking your rap career seriously?

Liband: About a year and a half ago. I was really at a point where I wanted to give up on rap. You know, shit, there wasn’t anything moving for me in music. I was like imma just stick to the block. Stick to what I’ve been doing before this. What’s gone keep money in my pockets, you know, instead of having to be patient. But something just kept me up. All it really took was patience and being around the right people, staying prayed up about it.

Mikala: In your bio you stated that  you would feel like a killer if you didn’t release your music to the people. I really want you to elaborate on that because that’s a pretty deep statement!

Liband: Fasho! I feel like mane… you see somebody finna walk into the ocean, no life jacket you heard me.You see the water right there but they can’t see it. That’s like allowing a blind person to walk in that bitch and drown. That’s how I feel about my music. I feel like I can help their ass and I got it but they don’t. What I mean by that is on a wisdom scale.  You can only receive what you give. I feel like that’s one of the reasons I stay blessed up. I continue to do God’s work and help people with my words. It’s all a part of the vision.

Mikala: What’s something you do to get your mind right before you record?

Liband: I really just gotta feel it. I aint gone cap, if it’s a day I’m not feeling it. You know that self motivation that I was telling you, I have a whole lotta that. But I really just smoke a blunt that’s the only thing. Other than that, if it’s a passion you don’t really need nothing to get you prepared. ON GOD. Yeah this is my way out but it’s also my passion. I’m already on this just in me.

Mikala: It takes a lot of strength to keep yourself self motivated in which I have to do that a lot . It’s really inspiring to hear you talk so strongly about that!

Liband: Yes ma’am! Thank you!

Mikala: I got the chance to listen to “Hitem Up” in honor of Tupac. What made you choose that specific song?

Liband: I was scrolling on Youtube and saw Pac’s “Hit ‘Em Up”. I just tapped on that bitch. When I clicked on the beat, I freestyled. My mind be on the go! My mama said I got ADHD. Notice during our convos I be going from topic to topic. I talk fast than a bitch sometimes (laughs). I just started spitting out bars. I went to the studio. I opened my journal and did the unexpected that day. If you know that song you know that song is full of bars. I kid you not, the next bars that came after the 12 bars was strictly me just going. I’m speaking that real shit. I just got to flowing out here.

Mikala: Like I said I hear ambition throughout your voice. From here it’s only going to go up  for you. You know, When you hit that certain type of motivation there’s nothing anybody can tell you to stop you from where you need to be.

Liband: Straight up! A lot of stuff I be quiet on. I’m really a quiet person, I stay to myself.  I don’t really like people. I know what to expect from a person being what I’ve been through with people. I done been around so many people with the wrong intentions. But when i get the chance to let it out I let it out. Especially during interviews.

Mikala:With dealing with people and the industry  How do you brush stuff off without letting it get to you?

Liband: The smaller your circle the better (laughs). On God! Another thing, staying prayed up. I know what I know from staying prayed up. That stuff really works. See how much of a flow you be on from being prayed up.

Mikala: Yes! God will definitely reveal everything you need to know about a person.

Liband: Most definitely! Fasho, fasho.

Mikala: Now tell me about your single “Hotboy” why’d you choose that name?

Liband: We Hotboy living mane. We some youngins that’s just yeahhh and we reckless. Not only that but that’s a big name, you gotta put some respect on that bitch.

Mikala: To someone who’s unfamiliar with your music, how would you describe your sound to them?

Liband: Raw, authentic, grimy. On the other hand too, soft melody. It depends on what songs you are talking about in specific. Versatile, very, versatile. I be having to remind myself that versatile isn’t just rapping and then singing. You can be versatile from just rapping based off of lows and stuff. That’s one of main things. Very influential as well.

Mikala: I heard the versatility on “Due Date”? It’s a very deep song, what were emotions recording that?

Liband: Everything. You think about death everyday probably, well i’m not gone speak for everybody. I was speaking about females, cops. I had just got out of jail. I was full of emotion. I went from one thing to another that song but it all added up. I’m thuggin! Besides all the things tryna bring me down, I’m still thuggin.

Mikala: You’re gearing up for a new album. What can we expect from this project?

Liband: Me! A better introduction of me because they’ve been seeing drops after drops. They haven’t seen it all together.  Real authentic!

Mikala: What would you say will make this better than your other projects.

Liband: Better samples. You gone know the difference. You’ll see the difference. I don’t too much have to run it to you. You gone see!

Mikala: What is one piece of advice that someone’s given you that will always stick with you?

Liband: The sky’s the limit!
