DGB Recap: Top 10 Moments From Power 106: The Liftoff Edition

LA’s Power 106’s Powerhouse The Liftoff Edition concert truly went up and lifted off. The concert featured performances by Mustard and Friends, G-Eazy, Tyga, French Montana, T-Pain, O.T. Genasis, A-Trak, Roddy Ricch, Gashi, 1TakeJay, Rucci, Melii, $tupid Young, Kalan Fr Fr, Yella Beezy and Def Jam “Undisputed artists: Sneakk, Lul G, and TJ Porter. Taking place at The Five Point Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA the event commenced on Saturday, May 18 treating fans to a crowded day of nonstop Hip-Hop music, tons of surprises and tributes to the late Nipsey Hussle. 

1. Melii Had Everyone Wanting to Hit Her Line

Melii had an amazing performance on The Liftoff New Music Stage as she gave life to songs, “Icey,” “Wit The Shit,” and records from her album phAses, “Slow For Me,” featuring Tory Lanez and “HML” featuring A Boogie wit Da Hoodie.

Styled by Farren Jean Andrea, Melii performed with slicked back hair, a white tank top, black wide-legged pants held together by safety pins and black stilettos.

2. DJ Situation and Yella Beezy

DGB’s own DJ Situation and Catrise J chopped it up after witnessing another stupefying performance from Dallas, Texas rapper Yella Beezy. DJ Situation amplified the crowd as Yella Beezy performed anthem’s such as “Up 1,” “Bacc At It Again,” and “That’s On Me.”

3. Roddy Ricch Is Ricch Forever

Roddy Rich inaugurated the mainstage performing records such as “Die Young,” “Every Season,” “Ricch Forever,” and “Racks in the Middle,” a Nipsey Hussle record that he is featured on. Roddy performance was very appealing as he is currently one of the top rising rappers out of Los Angeles.

4. Did You Know T-Pain Can Dance And Sing?

T-Pain. T-Pain. T-Pain. What a show! T-Pain invoked his set with nothing but hits and classics records such as “Cyclone,” “Blame It,” “Bartender,” “I’m Sprung,” and “I’m N Luv (Wit A Stripper).” The “Getcha Roll On” rapper captivated the entire audience with his high energy and one-step, two-step dance moves.

5. French Montana and DJ Duffey

French Montana turnt the crowd all the way up with an entertaining performance of songs, “All The Way Up,” “No Stylist,” “Work Remix,” “Lock Jaw,” “Unforgettable,” and more. Even Montana’s deejay DJ Duffey joined in on the fun on stage with a little twerk session. UNFORGETTABLE!

6. G-Eazy Has No Limits

G- Eazy took the stage by storm with a delightful assortment of records like “Me, Myself and I,” “Him and I,” “I Mean It,” “Order More” and definitely lots of more. G-Eazy brought down the curtain with a performance of “No Limit” and paid homage to Nipsey before walking off the stage. 

7. Tyga Is Back Like He Never Left

After claiming his place back on thrown last summer with the anthem “Taste” Tyga definitely had the biggest comeback of all time especially with his Power 106 performance. Tyga made sure he performed all the older hits “Rack City,” “Ayy Ladies,” “Molly,” “Hookah” while also tackling his newest singles “Dip,” “SWISH” “Swap Meet,” “Wow. (Remix)” by Post Malone and “Go Loko” by YG.

8. O.T. Genisis

Dressed to the nine in Burberry, O.T. Genesis dripped the stage in a mesmerizing performance of smashes “Cut It,” “Push It,” “Everybody Mad,” “CoCo,” “Thick” and “Bae.”

9. Mustard and Friends

The main attraction of the evening was the Mustard and Friends set, who brought out star-studded celebrities such as T-Pain, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Dom Kennedy, Trey Songz, Tyga and Roddy Rich.

In matching yellow outfits Mustard and his son took the stage to hype up of the crowd and show off his incredible dance moves. Mustard dedicated a part of his set to a tribute of Nipsey Hussle performing Nip’s song, “Last Time That I Checc’d,” then brought out Dom Kennedy into which they performed “Checc Me Out.” Dom Kennedy exclaimed “Rest in peace Nipsey Hussle!” as he held his mic up and left the stage.

All of Mustard‘s guests performed tracks produced or featured by the 10 Summers CEO. T-Pain performed “Up Down,” Trey Songz “Na Na,” Pacman and Roddy Rich joined Mustard for a rendition “Rack in the Middle, Ty Dolla $ign with “Or Nah,” and “Ex” for which YG came out and performed, “BPT,” “You Broke,” and “My Nigga” then Tyga joined for his YG “Go Loko” collab then concluded with O.T. Genesis performing “Bae.”

 In the depth of his performance, Mustard announced his new album Perfect 10 will be released on June 28.  Additionally, the album artwork was revealed on the large screen which is a profile image of his son. “I’m doing this shit for LA!” he said after introducing the album. “We the best to ever do it.”  In an interview with Billboard, he said Perfect 10 will have “A lot of anthems,” and that “all of [his] friends are on it.” 

10. The Nipsey Hussle Tribute

The Power 106 gang came on stage to honor to Nipsey Hussle, to which they dimmed the lights and asked fans to light their phones up. They played a video montage that featured a slideshow of images and old performances of Nip while “Double Up” played tenderly in the background. RIP THE GREAT.
