Today, breakout Atlanta rapper Hunxho releases his new project Xhosen. The 9-track effort showcases the rapper’s sonic diversity and opens a new chapter in Hunxho’s ever-evolving story. The project release comes alongside a dynamic and raw live performance video for “Heartless”. In the video, Hunxho showcases his undeniable stage presence and delivers a chilling version of one of the project’s most personal tracks.
Xhosen takes its namesake from Hunxho’s son, Xhosen, and derives inspiration from his philosophy that he is the ‘chosen one’, meant for greatness. The multi-faceted project includes previously released single “1,2,3” and his long-awaited track “Fight”, which earned him a cosign form Lil Baby and more when a snippet was debuted on his Instagram earlier this year. With each track on Xhosen, Hunxho proves how he is “chosen”.- chosen to be a father, chosen to be the breadwinner for his family, and chosen to be next up out of Atlanta.
About Xhosen, Hunxho says “I named this EP “Xhosen” because I’ve been given so many second, third chances in life that have made me feel like I’m chosen to succeed. I also named my first born son Xhosen. I made this project for him and people like me – everyone that has been through something and is chosen to make it through. Even though I made it to where I’m at, I still experience hard times. With Xhosen, I want to talk about what I’ve been through and what I’m still going through.”
Earlier this year, Hunxho released his acclaimed mixtape Street Poetry, the third iteration of his mixtape series that includes his preceding projects Street Poet and Street Poet 2, both of which earned him acclaim in his hometown of Atlanta. The tape includes the remix to his viral single “Let’s Get It”, which is assisted by fellow Atlanta rap pioneer 21 Savage. Hunxho also teamed up with No Cap on “Made Me”, as well as acclaimed producers Internet Money, Jetsonmade, and Buddah Blessed for the project. Locally known for his hard-hitting beats and his signature syrupy cadence, his music transports listeners into his world by musically relaying his emotional hardships and vibrant triumphs. Now with his new project, Xhosen, Hunxho is quickly establishing himself as an Atlanta rap mainstay.
