AD & Sorry Jaynari – Last of the ’80s

Sorry Jaynari Last of the 80's

Following up 2016’s By The Way, rapper/producer duo AD and Sorry Jaynari are returning with Last of the ’80s, a set of high octane bangers about life in South Central Los Angeles. Released by Priority Records, Last of the ’80s is a deeper look into the mind of AD, who populates Sorry Jaynari’s immaculate tracks with sharp jabs, menacing threats, and colorful boasts. Featuring appearances from Wiz Khalifa, Tory Lanez, OT Genasis, Kid Ink, Eric Bellinger, G Perico, and Kool John, Last of the ’80s is a vital resurrection of the spirit and sound of late-’80s/early-’90s-era gangsta rap. You can support the duo by purchasing the project here.

The project has Compton native AD and Sorry Jaynari continuing the West Coast rapper/producer lineage that includes Snoop & Dre, DJ Quik & Suga Free, and DJ Slip & MC Eiht. “We want to be the soundtrack of the streets and a voice for the people,” AD explains. Sorry Jaynari elaborates, “Our sounds really come from the clubs and streets. For the sound of the west, we always had a certain sound that would be related to gang culture—fat bass lines, the leads, synth. Now it’s still basically the same structure that Dre used back then, but we made it faster and added 808s and bass.”
