Montana of 300 might have the best “Panda” freestyle

Montana of 300

Normally I’m not one to listen to the slew of freestyles that accompany a humongous hit in the hip-hop world, Desiigner’s “Panda” being no exception. However for the past few days, I’ve been inundated with people telling me to listen to Montana of 300’s take on the first New York rap song to top the Billboard Hot 100 since Jay Z’s “Empire State of Mind” back in 2009. More than I can count, no exaggeration.

Well halfway through my first listen I quickly saw what the fuss was about. Montana absolutely bodied this. I must admit I’ve never listened to his music before, a fact I’m already in the process of quickly rectifying. Feel free to join me, I’ve liked everything I’ve heard so far.

Chicago-bred Montana 0f 300 has been rapping since he was 15, and back in 2008 he helped create the rap group “300.” In an interview with Respecttheartist.com, the rapper says the group’s name is based off on the Zack Snyder film “300,” and was picked particularly because of one of the movie’s lines “No surrender, no retreat, only the hard, only the strong, against all odds.” Follow him on Twitter @MONTANAof300.
