MeLo-X’s protégé TyBass Drops Dancehall Banger “Girl is Mine”

Brooklyn, NY

“BAP!” is the debut solo project of MeLo-X protégé and NXGNcbnt‘s own, TyBass. This body of work tells his story of being an immigrant child to Jamaican parents in East Brooklyn. The tracks focus on his personal battles/endeavors, to finding his purpose, dealing with gun violence, young love, and motivating those around him that share a similar identity and story.

Girl Is Mine is the first official single from “BAP!” The track is a modern ode to Brandy & Monica’s 1998 exclusive Boy Is Mine. 80s Dancehall blended with the aggression of 90s Rap can best describe the Brooklyn native’s musical narrative. Produced by NYC’s own multi-media artist Gvijin, the song also features close friend and frequent collaborator of TyBass, Choppy Chan.

The two artists pay homage to their Jamaican roots by exchanging hypnotic patois melodies, all while capturing the sound of a 2018 banger. Stream the single here:
