Hip Hop Remembers Biggie Smalls

Christopher Wallace, also known as The Notorious B.I.G. and Biggie Smalls was honored today by New York Congressman, Hakeem Jeffries, for his contributions to Hip Hop’s culture.

Although he only released 2 solo albums, Notorious B.I.G. left an impeccable impact on the world as he is still ranked as one of the best rappers of all time. He gained mainstream success in 1994 with his hit single, “Juicy”, redefining the East Coast sound. He is also credited with discovering the self-acclaimed Queen of Hip Hop, Lil Kim.

On March 9, 1997, Biggie was tragically killed following months of tension after the death of Tupac Shakur, ending Hip Hop’s West Coast and East Coast 3 year rivalry.

20 years since his death, his murder remains unsolved.

Biggie lives on through his former business partner, Diddy, his widow, Faith Evans, his mother and children and the many others who carry his legacy.
