A$AP Rocky Confirmed to Perform At Real Street Fest Post-Swedish Jail Release

After over a month of detainment in a Swedish jail, A$AP Rocky finally returned to U.S. soil on Saturday, August 3rd around midnight. The rapper, Rakim Mayers was on trial for assault last week along with his two friends, David Rispers and Bladimir Cornel after an altercation with a 19-year-old teenager, Mustafa Jafari. Rocky testified that he acted in self-defense after he asked Mr. Jafari to leave him alone but the man refused which eventually led to the viral footage of the brawl between A$AP’s entourage and Mr. Jafari. After a three-day trial, the judge overseeing the case allowed A$AP and his co-defendants to remain free while awaiting the verdict, which is expected on August 14th.

Due to Rocky’s abrupt imprisonment and the Swedish Government not being as reasonable as the U.S. would have liked there was no telling when or if A$AP would be released from prison which then caused a plethora of cancellations of prior scheduled performances.

These uncertainties left many fans who will be attending Real Street (Presented By Real 92.3) Festival this weekend worried that A$AP Rocky would be a no-show for his Sunday, August 11th performance date:

Rest assure, A$AP Rocky has been confirmed to take the stage at the Real Street Fest this weekend which is slated to be his first performance since his imprisonment.

In a statement from Doc Wynter, Executive Vice President of Urban/Hip Hop at iHeartMedia says, “We are elated that Rocky is finally coming home and will be taking the stage to headline our first Real Street Fest this weekend, as originally planned. In the interim, Godspeed to Rocky and his family. We can’t wait to hear the crowd erupt for Rocky this Sunday night at The Honda Center Festival Grounds!”

Real Street will feature two massive stages — with performances from some of today’s top hip hop acts, including A$AP Rocky, Future, Cardi B, MigosMeek Mill, Big Sean, Miguel, Rae Sremmurd, 2 Chainz, Megan Thee Stallion and more. A limited number of tickets for Real Street are still available at www.RealStreetFest.com.
